Despite the weather we’ve been having, spring is definitely in the air. And as much as I love fall and winter style for the layering a heavier fabrics, I can’t help but feel just a little excitement about bringing some of my spring pieces out of hibernation. While it’s still not time for an all out spring look, here’s one way to “think spring” during the seasonal transition.

Get the Look

Two simple ways to turn a spring look into one that’s more transitional. First, throw on a silk scarf. Silk scarves have been my favorite accessories the past few months and the lighter fabric is perfect for keeping the chill out. If the rest of your look is mostly monochromatic, choose one that offers some kind of contrast. Second, though I’m a fan of going sockless during the spring and summer, it’s still too cold for that and I’m not willing to suffer.

I’m a big fan of browns for fall and winter. There’s nothing like a dark brown suit or brown tweed. But browns can also work well for transitional spring style. Choose items in lighter shades, like a light brown or stone khaki, as well as lighter fabrics.
