Hush Mother's Day Styling Challenge

When asked to take part in a styling challenge with UK on-line fashion store Hush, I could not resist taking part as this was a challenge with a difference. As well as picking out an outfit for myself (easy!), I must also choose an outfit for my mum (not so easy!). Having said that, my mother and I have spent many many times shopping together, so in honour of Mother's Day, I hope to be able to choose an outfit with her tastes in mind. I picked a few pieces from the new Spring / Summer 2014 collection and accessorised from some of the main collection.

So, the outfit for mum first. She has an amazing figure and an even more amazing pair of legs and loves to wear dresses just as much as I do. So I chose a knee-length dress which is actually a much tighter fit when pictured on the model than it seems here, so will show off her slim figure and gorgeous legs fabulously. She gets cold easily, so would always wear some kind of cover up. So tying in with the blue/grey palette, I next chose this short cardigan so she can feel extra cosy and warm in the springtime. My mum has an extensive collection of scarves, another one won't harm, and highlights the colours of the dress and cardigan very well. Likewise, my mum loves heels but loves walking comfortably too, so this low heeled pair of grey sandals will work wonderfully well with this outfit. Simple accessories of silver loop ear-rings and pastel bracelet will continue with the colour theme. Finished off with a nail polish she probably wouldn't choose for herself but would work so well with the outfit as a whole. Mum also has quite the collection of cross body bags as she likes the long adjustable straps, this one will be just the perfect size for her and not too dissimilar to those she owns already. And finally, after dressing her from head to toe, she will be more than ready for a cup of tea, Hush conveniently happen to stock Tea-Pigs too.

Next on to me. I especially love maxi dresses in the summer, as unlike mum I was not blessed with great legs. I find maxi dresses so cool and comfortable and I really love this bright colour. I'm all about nail polish and love changing my colours every couple of days, this shade matches the dress and cork sandals perfectly. Likewise I too love scarves, it can sometimes get a little chilly in the spring and summer when wearing cool clothes, this will be lovely to tie loosely around my neck. I chose a couple of edgier pieces from the Spring / Summer collection, a grey biker jacket and silver skull ring as well as keeping the outfit simple with a silver dainty necklace. I prefer my handbags over-size so chose a tote style. And I love my tea even more than mum, so added a large mug and packet of Tea-Pigs into my collection too.
