INTERIORS: Muted Neons & Pastels

Considering how much I love all things interior I can’t believe I’ve never done a post about it! I’d love to start doing more house related posts on essiebutton, so if you’d like to see them let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to focus on! Today I’m going to be talking about one of my favourite trends (is it a trend or is it for life!?) muted neons and pastels. I thought I was very clever when I came up with the term “muted neons”, but it turns out the phrase has existed for a very long time. I still technically made it up though…kinda…

I used to think of pastels as a “baby’s room” kind of thing, but the past few years I’ve realised that pastels are actually quite glamorous. When I first started going to thrift stores and seeing what was on offer I noticed lots of pastel fashion items and that’s probably where I fell in love. Next came pastel nail polish and now that my interiors interest has sparked I am obsessed with injecting a bit of pastel into my home. Although I personally believe you can never have too much pastel in your life, muted neons are a nice option because it gives an extra splash of colour, but they’re still muted enough that it’s not in your face. I like a good mix of both pastel & muted neons and even Aslan is coming around to liking them!

I love scouring the net for home decor even though I probably won’t buy most of it! Is that strange? I find it very calming and I just like to know what’s out there! I get lots of inspiration on Pinterest, which I get lost on for hours at a time. Above you will find a little selection of items that caught my eye!

What do you think of muted neons and pastels? Do you love them as much as me?
