Confessions – Chapter One Hundred and Sixty Three

Men for all their thinking that they are so clever and streetwise are never good at being put on the spot. The words were simply not coming out of his mouth. He could not explain how he ended up at Milpark! Maybe he should tell her that he was coming to see the woman that was meant to be his wife. Yes that’s me. I was not delusional. Looking at her I could see that once upon a time, probably when trees still talked, she was a beautiful woman. Over time she had gotten classy that’s true but that was once upon a time. Why would a man of my Rodney’s stature really want to end up with crusty old woman when he had the heart of this beautiful young thing. I could not help but roll my eyes but fortunately the only person who saw was Nozipho who in turn pinched me. She warned me to behave just with her eyes and she was right. I needed to focus and not let feelings come in the way. Jealousy is an evil thing! The wife had stood up now waiting for her husbands answer. Was I about to witness a fight. I thought classy suburban people don’t fight in front of strangers but clearly this too still had a bit of ghetto in them.
“Rodney why are you not answering me you acting…”
He didn’t let her finish and he cut her off,
“I am just surprised that’s all that I had to explain myself. You have never asked me my whereabouts let alone in front of children. It’s embarrassing! Really is!”
He said.
“I am sorry my dear but you still haven’t answered me!”
She said clearly insistent! Hold up? Had Rodney just called us children wow and when I was fucking him he most certainly was not calling me that!

“I had to go give Nozipho a key because I realized that them having one key was not the wisest thing!”
He finally said. How on earth did he come up with that one? Wow.
“Ah my baby you are so thoughtful. I would never have thought of that!”
His wife said clearly so happy. Did she just buy that? Honestly! Are women that naive? Maybe suburban are too busy going to spas and dinner parties to fail to read signs because even my mother would never have fallen for something so cheap. Being rich does not always make you the smartest.
“You know girls you are so lucky. We were thinking of putting the apartment up for sale but it’s an investment property. I think because of you we are now convinced that it can stay in the family a while longer. Besides the markets are bad right now!”
She said. God! This woman talks so much! Rodney was such a liar but a bad one. He had just thrown her out so by saying this he was now forced to give her a key surely. This was good for Nozipho and I but bad for his ego. I guess he would have too house after all and make sure the job was still hers. I held my cousins hand to show that everything will be alright.m
“Nelisa how did you end up at that terrible boys flat when you have your own! You should have studying!”
She asked and said at the same time! Studying my ass, bitch don’t tell me what to do, I thought to myself.

“No Aunty Lynda,”
I responded! The amount of spit I had to swallow for calling her that must have been a bucket full,
“It was not me it was her. He is our friend and remember the guy I bumped into the mall with you the other day, it’s his cousin!”
I reminded her of Sandton. It clicked immediately and she responded,

“O that cute boyfriend of yours?”

The look on Rodney’s face shem! O tla ba strong, I must buy him one of the UJ tshirts printed Just Be Strong. He stood up and left the room. This woman asked too many questions though and now was not the time.

“Yes ma’am. It was his cousin and we trusted him. He always helps us with things and now he does this.i don’t know what to do. I start my new job in a few days and I am so traumatized!”

Nozipho cried. She was milking it. She knew by mentioning the job Rodney could not deny her it! Imagine what his wife would say if he got the girl who had almost been assaulted fired! Talk about turning a bad thing into something positive!

There was movement in the background and it was her son. I can’t remember his name, I met him once that’s why! He greeted us all. Her son was not so bad to be honest. He spoke to us briefly and said that he had lots of homework. His English though! It was he like he swallowed Thomas Mlambo and that black guy on Carte Blanche! It was too good and weird coming out of a black guys mouth. Not sure if that does it for me! It’s that kind of accent that gets you beaten up in the township because people will think that you think you are better than them. You know how black folks are! He did not appear proud at all but he carried himself like a white kid. Him I did not dislike though because he was one day going to be my son. He went back to his room.

“I think I am going to take a dip in the pool hun,”

Rodney said looking at his wife. I don’t know why I did that but I immediately said,

“You have a pool?”

Looking around as though I was looking for it. Even I know when to flatter a rival for I went on to say,
“It makes sense, with such a beautiful house a pool would further compliment it. Aunty Lynda this house and its finishes, ah, when I grow up I want to be you!”

I said. Talk about an oxymoron and phrase dripping with so much sarcasm yet truth! True to form flattery is the refuge of every woman Aunty Lynda took the hint,

“Oh my Lord you are so sweet Nelisa. Thank you! A woman’s home is her pride and joy. Come I show you girls the pool and I think Rodney they should swim too because it was lessen the stress.”

She said already standing up to lead us! The look on Rodney’s face though! It was priceless! He was furious with me I could see but the water would calm him down.

“I am not sure if you guys brought bathing suits but I have a few new ones I have never used. You know at times you go into the shop trying to buy swimwear of lingerie and a male security guard is standing right there. You end up picking the wrong thing so I have a few!”

She said laughing. She really was a happy woman and if it was not because of our situation I would actually like her! My mother called me and asked me where I was. I told her I was not at home.

“You better come home because Nozipho’s father has found out whose house you live in and he is going to the man’s house to ask him why?”

I don’t understand.

Why would you go ask why?

Rodney must know this now but if I talk to him it will be in front of his wife and then there will be trouble!

Dear Mike
I am liking this party idea a lot and can I please help plan it. I am good at this lol. Thanks. How are you?

My problem: My sister is cheating on her husband with my best friend. She is older than him by three years and what’s worse is that they hook up at my place. She has been married eight years and he has a steady girlfriend. When they started I tried to stop it but they started doing risky things like sex outside her house etc until I allowed them to come to my place rather. Her husband is one of those devoted men who completely adores his wife’s. That man goes above and beyond to keep her happy. What makes me sad is that on Saturday mornings he baby sits their two kids whilst his wife drives to go get laid. I have told them both that I don’t wanna be part of this love triangle but they keep coming.

What should I do?

Thank You

Landi
