my desert island
You know those questions like “if you were stranded on a desert island, what would you eat/take/read/etc?” This is what would be on my desert island.
PS I might’ve typed “dessert” several times first during this draft.
Book - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Yeah that’s probably cliche but it’s one of the first classics I read all on my own and not because I had to for school. Then my grandma made me watch the BBC miniseries with Colin Firth and we bonded over our mutual crush on him. Important life moments.
Movie - Moulin Rouge. This is a random pick but I thought about which movie I’d be ok watching over and over again. I have other fave movies but I have a Moulin Rouge obsession. I love musicals and it’s funny, weird, upbeat, sad and romantic. All good themes for my desert island.
Food - Yesterday I mentioned that kimchi is probably my fave food ever (which is what actually got me thinking about what I’d want to eat forever/my desert island). On greater reflection, I’m going to cheat and say that, on my desert island, there will be all the Korean foods I love. I’m a cheater but it’s my island so whatever. You can’t kick me off!
Television - This is super easy for me. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my fave show ever and I’ve already re-watched the series numerous times and I could watch it forever. If I’m allowed to cheat again, I’d bring other Joss Whedon shows, Angel and Firefly. That’s only kinda cheating.
Clothes - On my dessert island, I’d mainly wear a cute bikini with a wide brimmed hat and would lounge outside but hide under a fancy umbrella because I don’t need to get over sun exposure. (Apparently my desert island is actually a resort with fancy umbrellas?) As for real clothes, I’d wear a pretty comfy maxi dress.
Drinks - I drink tons of water so I’ll need lots of drinking water. If my desert island is actually a resort with alcoholic drinks, my drink of choice is a vodka soda with lime.
Snacks - All the guacamole ever. Done and done.
Hair - So I’m at a resort apparently, it’s been decided. So I will have someone give me wavy Victoria’s Secret model hair everyday. Please and thank you.
Perfume - I’m all dressed up, drink in hand and getting my hair done. So I’ll also be wearing my fave perfume, Chanel Chance.
Candy - Haribo gummi bears. Duh.
Music - If I can only pick one album, I would probably pick Pinkerton by Weezer. It never gets old.
Beauty product - Besides sun screen of course, I would have to take Benefit concealer. Best stuff ever.
Social media - If I can only take one social media platform on my desert island (yeah I know this one’s a stretch…) it would be Instagram. It’s my fave – I can post one million pug photos guilt free and check out other pretty photos without having to worry about reading lots of words.
Animal(s) - Obviously I’m bringing both my pugs. They love sun snoozing, so I think they’ll adapt well.
Human - Rosie can’t live without Jarrod. And Bowie and I like him too, so I think we will let him come too. So yeah the desert island is getting pretty crowded. So I will let all you guys come visit us sometime!
