a weekend in manchester
this weekend, we hopped on a train & ventured up to manchester to pay a visit to the ol’ friends & fam’.
we mancunians love 3 things: shopping, drinking & eating (well, & music). in typical fashion our long weekend featured the complete trilogy; we ticked a new restaurant off our ‘places to eat’ list, went vintage shopping in the northern quarter, stumbled across hot chocolate bubble tea in chinatown, hit up a pub or 2, & worked our way round the christmas markets (indulging in the compulsory bratwurst & gluhwein).
i know that as a native i’m biased but we really know how to do a christmas market up north; manchester’s offering is hands-down the best in the uk, if uncomfortably busy – even for a now-londoner. i’d also recommend poking your head into the newly-refurbished central library, now as impressive on the inside as it is on the out.
