while we were in manchester last weekend, i took my outdoor-loving fella on his first proper wander in the glorious peak district.
growing up in the pennines i admit i’m guilty of previously taking the area’s natural good looks for granted. these days, returning with a fresh pair of eyes, i’m so much more aware of how beautifully wild it is. we may not have big ben up north but our scenery isn’t too bad (also: our tap water tastes amazing, take that london).
i’ve walked around dove stones reservoir once before so we opted for a brisk 1.9 mile up-hill hike to chew reservoir. the views at the top weren’t exactly worth the steep, chilly climb, but the views on the way up were absolutely stunning. i love the colours & the textures of the moors, especially at this time of year. on that note, hello mince pie season!
