ART OF PACKING

Holidays are approaching and most of us will be travelling somewhere- family visit, couple escape or just a girl-trip, and there is no gal in history that has ever thought that there is too much space in her luggage. Ever.*

The Art of Packing- part of the the Louis Vuitton glorious heritage with it’s beginnings founded by Mr.Louis hhimself with the idea of creation of first luggage. AoP has been a bit of a revelation to me.
Now, I do regard myself a savvy packer due to my increasingly frequent travelling and more time spent on the airport than home, but I tell you dear readers I have picked up some tips and tricks that aren’t in the book. You remember the couple of days in Paris after PFW in February? Well,me and Camilla Phil had the chance to observe the Maestro giving us a lesson in packing at Louis Vuitton store at Champs- Èlyéese, and in retrospective it is a bit like playing a sophisticated game of Tetris.
First you start with hard and heavy things-like shoes and put them at the edges of your suitcase making the outer frame for you further packing, the basics are- heavy things near the wheels while light, delicate things higher mot the top of the luggage. Basics so far right?Well, here are the tricks I bet you haven’t heard of:
1. Don’t fold you shirts- roll them instead, collar folded out and rolled in first, you are avoiding the double crease or crinkled collar.
2. Now, we all know that we can roll the belts and use the extra place here and there to stuff them in, but what about rolling out the belt and putting it around the edges of the luggage? Not only does that the belt doesn’t fold and leather crease but it also serves as a wedge so that all our pretty stuff in the luggage doesn’t move to much during travelling.
3. If you have a jacket that needs to be placed in the suitcase the chances are that you have a skirt or pants with you. Button the jacket and lay it flat, fold the trousers and place them in the middle of the jacket, than fold the sleeves of the jacket over the pants and roll the collar first than the downpart of the jacket over. In that way we are creating a bit space for the jacket so that it isn’t folded many times. Impressed? Well, I was when after following the tips given by Maestro my shirts and jackets only needed a bit time on the hanger as opposed to whole pressing process after arriving back. One word: Ciao!
