Layla Emerald Divine

It’s raining cats and dogs outside, so what could be better than putting on a holo, right? I’ve just come to terms with that if I’m ever going to wear my holos, I can’t wait for the sun to come out!

Anyway, I picked Layla Emerald Divine to be the first polish from my epic haul to put on my fingers. Even if there’s no sun, this is one of the awesomest and holoest polishes I’ve seen! This is an emerald green linear holo, and the effect is so strong that it’s like looking into another dimension. These pics are taken under a regular light bulb, so you get an idea how intense this will be in the sunlight.

The formula was divine as well, two nice and easy coats are needed for full coverage. And the brush is super comfortable! It’s flat and square, but not too big, and firm, but not too stiff. Love it!

Now, the secret to effortless holo application is using the right underwear. I’ve used Nfu-Oh Aqua Base, but you could also use other holo-friendly base coats like GOSH Fix Base Coat or Make Up Store Aqua Fix.

The trick is to apply a thin layer of the base coat, if you apply it too thick or unevenly, you’ll get bumps that show under your polish. The base coat goes on kinda milky, and when it’s dried to a thin, clear finish, you’re ready to apply your holographic polish. The Aqua Base grabs on to the holo preventing bald spots and other iffy application issues, and it also increases the wear of holographic polishes.

Laylas can be purchased at Layla’s own site (€11.90 a bottle) or at Harlow & Co ($16 a bottle).
Aqua Fix is available at Viis Ilusalong (€6 a bottle) or at Fabuloustreet ($12.50 a bottle).
