Let me preface this post by saying that I am in no way a professional in regards to dieting, exercise or good health. This is simply something I did that worked for me and may work for you. In late June, my friend and I were having dinner and discussing her upcoming wedding. She randomly said she had decided she was going to stop drinking sodas in hopes that she would lose a couple of pounds before her big day. Being the great friend that I am, I offered to join her in her self-inflicted misery journey to being healthier. We agreed to not have any sodas until the wedding, which was a little more than a month away. Needless to say, the next day I get this lovely comment on my Facebook page:
At that point, I definitely thought about having a soda myself. I was currently having at least two cans of either Coca Cola or Pepsi every day, so going without one was kind of hard. Then I thought, just maybe I should show some self control for once in my life and actually give the no soda thing a shot. So, I did. I think I went about nine days before I broke down. To be fair, I can't have energy drinks or coffee (you know, heart problems) and I'm really not even supposed to have sodas with caffeine in them. But it was just one of those days and I really needed something to keep me awake at work. For some reason my job doesn't allow naps at your desk. Weird, right?
That same day, out of curiosity, I decided to weigh myself and see if I had possibly lost a pound over those nine days. I thought perhaps after having cut out all of that sugar for over a week I would have something good to show for all of my suffering. And you know what? It turns out I had lost three pounds in those nine days, just from not drinking sodas. That's all I did. I did not change my diet at all in any other way. And I definitely did not do any sort of exercising.
You can take that shit to the bank.
