Creating your own framed art is a wonderful way to spruce up your home with the added pleasure of DIY customization. Megan Pflug of One Kings Lane shows us how to step up our frame game by creating these beautiful fabric covered mats. It’s a simple way to compliment your wall hue, add a colorful pop to black and white drawings, and tie together different pics to create a gorgeous story! To create: Lightly mist the front of the frame with spray mount and place it face down on the fabric. Gently smooth the fabric into place, removing any wrinkles or creases. Apply double-stick tape to the inside and outside edges of the mat. Use scissors to cut the outside corners off the fabric. Next, cut an X in the center of the fabric, going from interior corner to interior corner so that you form four triangular flaps. P.S. - trim off excess fabric, leaving four tabs about 1.5 inches deep. Remove the tape backing, exposing the sticky side. Fold over the inside edges and smooth them into place. Repeat the process around the outside edge. Reassemble your frame and hang it up!
