I know, don’t even say it. I can’t believe I’m posting ANOTHER Asian dish either. I am totally obsessed with all Asian flavors right now. I’m pretty sure my family might be getting sick of my trend, but I don’t care so I’m taking that into consideration for next week’s meal planning. The other Asian recipes I shared last week (Thai Grilled Chicken & Sesame Noodle Bowl), were more of the copycat takeout kind of recipes, whereas, these Asian Steak Tips are considered Asian, only by the marinade that I used.
I was turned off of cooking steak tips for a while because my regular grocery store has gone so downhill with the quality of beef as of late, that I just didn’t even want to spend my money. But over the last several weeks, I’ve been obsessed with a butcher shop that is nearby. I can’t believe it took me so long to discover this place. The quality is awesome and there’s just something beautiful about walking in and having them cut me what I need, fresh, right then and there, on the spot!
My old standby recipe for steak tips is to marinate them in some sort of Italian dressing, preferably one with a zing to it. But, since I knew I wanted to work on tweaking my Lo Mein recipe this week (update coming soon), it just made sense to have an Asian style protein to go with it.
I marinated my tips for about 4 hours because it was mid day when I had this epiphany for Asian Steak Tips. I probably would have liked to let them bathe in the beauty of this marinade a few more hours, but 4 was enough, and lots of flavor was still there.
I served my Asian Steak Tips with a Vegetable Lo Mein, but I think this would be great with steamed broccoli and white rice too. I also think it would be great with a fried rice ( you can just omit the chicken from that recipe).
So my question of the day is where do you buy your meat? A chain grocery store, a butcher shop or somewhere else?
