Summer Sun (And Blouses)

{our favorite blouses for summer}

When Kate posted this photo to our Instagram account featuring a pretty coral blouse, I knew I wanted to revisit one of the amazing summer blouses we’ve come across while supplementing our summer wardrobe over the last few weeks. Blouses are, of course, a staple in any professional wardrobe, but what is so nice about summer blouses is that you can play around a bit with color, fit, and bottoms/shoes/accessories pairings.

Here are a few of our favorite summer blouses – and some styling ideas for each:

Oasis is one of those slightly lesser known brands (in the US) but it’s absolutely an HOM go-to. And when it comes to blouses, it’s one of our first stops. There are literally hundreds of options – and no shortage of style, cut, and unique and bold colors. For example, this vibrant blue blouse with cutwork sleeves is sweet and simple but makes a great statement at the same time. Pair it with black cropped trousers and yellow sapphire studs for a streamlined, chic look.

For a similar look in red, this lace cut out top is lovely, too. We’re also loving anything floral at the moment, whether it’s a scarf print top like this one, or this beautiful floral and stripe shell top. Pair this shell with a simple cropped jacket like this one from Kaarem, a navy A-Line skirt, and some nude patent leather heels.

Another of our favorite brands, Equipment, lives and breathes blouses. And their signature button ups (that come in both slim and regular) are light and airy and perfect for summer. If you’re in the mood for something fun, this animal print signature blouse is great and would look beautiful with a khaki pencil skirt or even a pale pink skirt if you can get your hands on one.

Or go for the same style in any one of these gorgeous and bold colors: ice green, spicy orange, deep blue, or hydrangea.

You can always rely on Nordstrom – for pretty much anything, really – and in particular to stock up on countless gorgeous summer blouses right when you need them. From this bold Vince Camuto Silk Utility Blouse (that would look great with flared off-white pants or paired with a black pencil skirt, as Kate did)

to this DVF silk print top (go for a fitted skirt to counter balance the loose blouse and some turquoise jewelry for a nice contrast against the pink)

you’re on style and on trend if you’re buying at Nordstrom.

Finally, Tory Burch is carrying some of our favorite blouses of the season. This silk floral print top exemplifies what Tory Burch does best – it’s feminine, classic, and the bow detail is eye catching even though subtle. We’re also loving this nude shell. Tina from VMR spent a good hour recently convincing us of the virtues of wearing nudes and we’ve been hooked ever since. This blouse would look gorgeous with anything from black to navy to something nude, beige, or off-white for an uber on-trend monochrome look. This, in our view, is a must have.

What summer blouses are you loving? Let us know in the comments below!

Sincerely,

the ladies of HOM
