Style Notes: To The Baseball Game

Aside from fashion week front rows, fashion sites and online magazines have also been as eager to feature what celebs are wearing to the ball games. I find myself glancing back to the days when watching intercollegiate ball games was a friggin' requirement to pass our PE class. No one prepped me for my first trip; for the record, I wore a pair of high-heeled sandals and brought a massive shoulder bag to the game. I regretted every single minute of it - even so, just like what wise people say: there are no mistakes, just lessons.
Now that postseason MLB games are on on almost every sports cable channel there is, how about let's talk about dressing for the baseball games. If you're going to one, there are a few sartorial tips you should keep in mind for a convenient and an enjoyable baseball game experience.

1. Quay Invader shades / 2. GrafOns Starbucks tank top / 3. Keds Champion Dot sneakers / 4. Hanmattan high-waisted denim shorts / 5. Swarovski Slake bracelets / 6. Proenza Schouler Tiny PS1 Suede / 7. Nike Oakland Athletics hat
1. Opt for comfort. The very first thing you should keep in mind is that the game is supposed to be fun (even if you find ball games boring). Opt for laid-back basics (e.g. a comfortable top, a pair of shorts and sneakers or flat sandals) that are lightweight and appropriately sporty. Tip: Don't fret about looking dull and uninteresting. You can always liven up your outfit by playing with colors, prints and patterns! And of course, with unique accessories (See #2).
2. Have fun with accessories. Accessories can always make or break a look. With the right accessorizing, no outfit can ever be boring. Put on a statement necklace, layer on some pretty bracelets or complete your look with a funky hat or a stylish pair of sunglasses. But remember - there's such thing as 'too much of a good thing'; over-accessorizing can kill an otherwise perfect ensemble.

1. Michael Kors chain necklace / 2. Karl Lagerfeld Jessica mesh-striped cotton-jersey t-shirt / 3. New Look quilted skort / 4. Pierre Balmain handbag / 5. Keds Double Up sneakers / 6. Burberry watch / 7. Swarovski Slake bracelet / 8. Oakland Athletics Game Time Closer Flex Hat

3. Take advantage of the sporty chic trend. Athletic clothing was one of the major trends that lit up last season's runways. And what better opportunity to rock this trend than sporting events, right? This trend is comfortable, event-appropriate and no doubt stylish. Go for jersey pieces, a fancy sweatshirt, or a chic bomber jacket. Don't fancy a pair of pants or shorts? Try a skort.

1. Versace Gold Medusa Medallion necklace / 2. Bardot Frayer top / 3. Chicwish lace skater skirt / 4. Olympia LeTan Red Riding Hood Minibook clutch / 5. YesStyle sneakers / 6. Swarovski Slake bracelet / 7. '47 Brand Oakland Athletics Youth Basic Adjustable Hat

4. Leave the extra baggage at home. We, women, love giant totes where we can put literally everything in, but sports stadiums are not the best place to bring them huge purses. Go for a lightweight and small bag that is easy to carry and keep track of. Tip: Colorful and playfully shaped clutches are always a fun, unique way to carry your essentials!
5. Pass on the baseball tee. Instead of a baseball shirt, show your team spirit through a cooler, less literal approach with a baseball cap of your favorite team. (Oakland Athletics isn't exactly my favorite team; in fact, the only time I appreciated baseball was when I saw the film Moneyball. So yeah, that explains it.) Tip: Fanatics.com is the ultimate store to go to if you need baseball caps.
