Easiest way to deal with neckline for beginner

I’m making my first jumper on the Superba. It’s a plain round necked man’s jumper in stockinet except for the front which is a simple racking pattern. Would it be better to do a cut and sew for the neckline? I’ve never done one before but am nervous about shaping a neckline on the double bed. Just as nervous about cut and sew but I’ve got to bite the bullet! Please tell me which would you recommend for a beginner?
