When humans appeared, they protected them until they were betrayed and thousands of dragons were killed. Fluttering Thoughts:

Worldbuilding: The Dark Kings world is beyond awesomesauce, paranormal elements (dragon shifters, fey, Warriors, druids – a looot of good stuff!), plus the awesome setting of Scotland, how could a girl resist, I ask you? Sigh.
Characters: I loooved Iona and Laith, both separately and together Iona was especially dear to me, due to her horror of a mother and the need to find her roots when she finds out there’s no mending the relationship with her estranged father. I felt this part of the serial particularly focused on character building, and Donna Grant did a fabulous job with Iona, and other characters as well, sure, but her particularly, in my opinion.
Laith was everything I expected him to be, gorgeous, all alpha-vibe, damaged a bit but highly functional, brave, loyal…did I mention hot? Yeah…*daydreams*
Their one on one was hot and they had awesome chemistry, more of a slow burn type of wove even if they’re very drawn to each other from the first moment they meet
Also, I’m totally immersed into Rhi’s story, I SO wanna know which Dragon King she was involved with. I have some suspicions right now, but I waaaaant to know
Plot: Aside the awesome budding romance tangent, there’s the Ulrik versus the Kings story going on, and I love the antagonist and cannot to read more about this ongoing conflict. Awesome pace of action, some proper Dragons versus Dark Fey fighting Yum!
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his and her POV. Awesome writing, and I particularly love the “accent” of the dragons
Curb Appeal: Awesome cover, hooking blurb, and an instant-buy author name for dragon romance reading.

All in all, another uber-awesome dragon romance read from Donna Grant. If you like dragons in your PNR, read these stories, you SO won’t regret it!
If you don’t wanna do the weekly 4 parts, look for the full novel out Dec 30 It’s worth it, I say. Get yourself a hot dragon New Year present xDDD
