your horoscope for the Autumn equinox!

Once again, I enlisted my favorite astrologer, Sabra Ricci (@mauichef), to personally fill us in on what to expect as the sun moves through our signs. Enjoy!

The sun moves into Libra on Sept. 22, ushering in the Autumn Equinox. The full moon a couple of days before is called the Harvest Moon, in honor of the equinox, when all cultures celebrate the harvesting of crops. The official arrival of Autumn brings with it the return to school, the changing of leaves to brilliant shades of orange, gold and red, and all things Libra. Did I say romance is in the air? Don’t be surprised — after all, Venus, the Goddess of Love, rules Libra. Keep an eye out for diplomacy, charm, peace, balance, idealistic thinking and — here it is — ROMANCE.

Not to burst your bubble, but you can also expect indecisiveness, malleabilitly, gullibility, self-indulgence and flirtation. Wait a minute, what’s wrong with a little flirting! That is the problem, it’s not a little flirting, it’s a whole lotta down-and-dirty, right in your face, come-here-baby kind of flirting! If you feel out of control, take a friend along everywhere you go (while the sun is in Libra) who will let you know you’re over the top. And if you find yourself being the object of outrageous flirtations, keep in mind that the Libra bug may have bitten some of your admirers!

Not everything has to be about romance, even though Venus trines Jupiter on Sept. 26. It’s a good time to expand friendships by hosting an intimate dinner for a small group of close friends. Two days later, Venus makes another appearance when she squares Mars — and you all need to watch out! This combo involves charm, seduction, pushing and bellowing. But don’t be afraid, it may just be acting out your fantasies! Could be very exciting …

Beginning on Sept. 29, and lasting while the sun is in Libra, Mercury, ruler of communications, will bring out the sleuth in all of us. We will snoop and dig to find hidden secrets and expose the truth. There is no recourse; we just won’t be able to help ourselves. In fact, we could even be caught invading someone’s privacy if we’re not careful!

The most significant energy comes into play Oct. 18 with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. The full moon is very powerful at any time, but add the eclipse and you’ll have double the impact. This eclipse demands cooperation with others and compromises, so you’d better approach this time period with an open mind and no snap judgments, and avoid drawing a line in the sand. It is about being willing to look at alternative ways of living your life instead of being fixated on only one way.

If you don’t want your butt kicked, pay attention. Your belief system could be rocked to the very core — as could your relationship. You need to be true to yourself, you know, the real you. This will be a time of compromises, but the one thing you can’t compromise is yourself!

Celebrities such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kim Kardashian, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Will Smith, Zac Efron, Matt Damon, Vladimir Putin, Hugh Jackman, Michael Douglas, Clive Owen, Lil’ Wayne, John Mayer, Simon Cowell, Usher, Heather Locklear and Snoop Dog (or should that be Snoop Lion?) all share a Libra sun sign. Wonder if they will all be true to themselves? Don’t want to hear about upsets in their relationship!

ARIES

Aries need to put themselves aside while the sun is in Libra, and instead really focus on their partners and relationships. Now, you’d think this would be really great for romance, and if I was talking about any other sign it would be. but Aries have a “me first” tendency — not that they aren’t loving, caring and giving. But just saying … if they just remember that they aren’t the only one in the relationship, they could have a hot time this month!

TAURUS

The sun in Libra will bring change and transformation for Taurus, along with heightened thoughts of sexuality, so this an excellent time to focus on what you want to change in your life, or put extra energy into romantic plans. Of course, you can always do both! Get rid of anything you don’t want to hold onto, master your inner skills, then get down with your bad self and go after that one you have your eye on! Venus the Love Goddess not only rules Libra, but also Taurus, so take advantage of your sensuous nature. Now!

GEMINI

Gemini may be seeking adventure more than intelligent conversation while the sun is in Libra. This could involve a spiritual quest to discover the deeper meaning of life or, at the very least, something to take you out of the everyday humdrum. Book a trip now while the inspiration is there, even if you don’t actually go until a later date. This journey doesn’t have to be alone; you’re not going for a “dark night of the soul.” Maybe a trek to India for a tantric retreat is just what you and your sweetie need!

CANCER

During the sun in Libra, the focus for Cancer will be on career and reputation. Offers will come in from out of the blue as you are recognized for all your endeavors, whether you are actively pursuing career advancement or not. You will attract people with the power to give you that promotion. So if you are already thinking about it — get your resume out there. You will also be at your most visible to prospective love interests, so when out on the prowl make sure you are at your sexiest!

LEO

Sun in Libra puts Leo right at the center of social events, which is perfect for these King of Beasts who adore all the glory. It’s time to make the rounds to all events, networking and making connections. You will find that you develop a strong sense of community during this time, something that’s out of the ordinary for the spotlight-loving Leo. Your romances will take on a light, fun aspect, so make the most of it! Enjoy!

VIRGO

While the sun moves through Libra, Virgo will be immersed in reflection, introspection and dreams. Now is the time to get rid of excess baggage and things that no longer work for you. Take a break from all that perfection that drives you and recharge, lighten up and have fun. Work will still be there — so just chill! And while you’re at it, I did say to have fun, so make sure that includes that special someone!

LIBRA

The Libra sun shines brightly on all Libras, just like a spotlight pushing you to center stage. It’s time to be spontaneous and create a “new you.” Not that there was anything wrong with the old you, but now you can become all you want to be. Libras are all about keeping balance with others, so become a little self-centered — just a tiny bit though. Can’t have the ego too overblown, so spend your birthday month connecting with the inner you. Wait! Don’t get your panties in a bunch. I didn’t say that no romance was involved! Venus is always your guide in that department; just make time for yourself, too!

SCORPIO

For Scorpio, this month is about finances, possessions and security. Now is the time for working hard and saving up for those upgrades you want to make. It’s also a great time for instituting new ideas that will boost your finances. Wo when you say, “show me the money,” they will! You will need to resist spending too much, so don’t be overly extravagant. Those urges will come from wanting to pamper yourself, and you Scorpios know how to do that without spending an arm and a leg. OK, go ahead — get those silky new sheets. You Scorps still have to make time for some romance!

SAGITTARIUS

Communications are on top of the Sagittarius to-do list while the sun is in Libra, so no running off on wild adventures. I didn’t specifically refer to a “love nest,” but now’s the time to make that happen!

AQUARIUS

The Libra sun is playtime for Aquarius, so it’s time to break out your creativity and pull out all the stops. You will be more childlike and spontaneous in your approach to having fun as your inner child wants to get in on the action. Romance will also be at the top of your list, so get creative. You’ll come up with lots of “games” you can play and have a really good time!

PISCES

Well, Pisces, it looks like you’ll be focusing on your work and your health while the sun is in Libra. Your ego is going to be invested in what you do, your duties and services. Sound boring? Only if you let it be — right now you have the chance to gain mad organizational skills that will help you through the rest of the year. And you need to pay attention to your health so you can keep your energy and strength up. So I could say that the only relationship you’re going to have this month is between your mind and body — but I don’t want to put a damper on any chance for a love connection!
