My Goals for This New Year

While looking back at accomplishments is always nice, setting new goals for a new year is more fun! I've been thinking a little bit this month about what I hope to tackle in 2015, both big and small, in personal life and in business, and decided that this would be my main list of reference.

PERSONAL

Continue fixing my brain - This includes doing more things that frighten me, but also seeking more help professionally. I want to set up regular appointments with a counselor (which I've been putting off) and actually do all of the tests and things my doctor has been trying to make me do (without brushing it off in avoidance). Avoid less, do more should perhaps be my mantra this year.

Travel - on an actual plane. I haven't set foot on a plane since I was 9 years old and the experience was awful. I will try to get over my fear of flying and travel somewhere new. Any suggestions?

Get fit - Yeah, this is probably on many people's resolution list too! Dustin and I were talking the other night about increasing the size of our home gym so we can work out together and motivate one another. We've both been slacking majorly these past few months but I really think if we had each other to help kick our asses, we could tackle this goal together.

Visit family more - When I lived on my own, I would visit my family every single weekend. Since we live a little farther now and since I don't like driving long distances, it has been tough. I guess this goes with the "fixing my brain" goal as well.

BUSINESS

Schedule - I am terrible at scheduling posts and things ahead of time, but when I have done it in the past (say, writing a week's worth of posts over the weekend) it has felt amazing to have everything done and allowed me to focus on other projects throughout the week instead of coming up with post ideas. This year I hope to get better at this.

Create more passive income - As you know, this is a big part of this blog and my business in general. Creating even more things that can add to the digital portfolio of revenue I have is always going to be something I strive for.

Licensing - I came across the idea of licensing my art and designs back at the end of summer and have learned a lot about the process. Licensing your art basically means pitching concepts and designs to various manufacturers of products and allowing them to use said art on their items. Basically if you walk around a store and check out everything with a design, character, or art piece on it (bedding, kitchen wares, party supplies, etc.), generally there was an artist behind that and a lot of the time that art is licensed for that company to use. That artist earns royalties on sales of the items. This year I am going to focus on doing this with my own art, which will also tie in with the whole passive income thing.

Create a new book - This is kind of a personal and business goal. I've always wanted to create a children's book... ever since I was probably 12 years old. I used to write them and illustrate them and use them for class projects, and I've just always found it fun coming up with cute/funny characters and a storyline. It's always been a little dream of mine that I've never told anyone. I would love to dedicate some time to this though and see what happens.

I think those are all of my main goals for 2015! What are some goals you have for this year?

xo, Dana
