Modernist concrete and glass structure on Biscayne Bay

Peribere Residence is a modern two story concrete and glass residence completed in 2013 by Max Strang Architecture, located on Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida. The 6,000 square foot home was built for $2.5 million, the residence commands views of the downtown Miami skyline and Port Miami. Brazilian ipe wood was used along with aluminum sun louvers to stand up to the harsh reality of the Miami climate.

An intriguing, yet private entrance to this home releases into a light-filled and transparent arrangement of living spaces with expansive views of Biscayne Bay. The south-facing residence employs various sun-shading strategies such as dynamic cantilevers and louvered walls to adapt the home to its subtropical setting.

The home is raised above the existing grade to better accommodate the occasional hurricane “storm surge” and also to confront longer-term sea level challenges. A raised internal courtyard, however, provides the appearance and convenience of a garden lifestyle.

Through a thirty foot opening of sliding glass, a covered terrace and lap pool completes this beautiful site on the bay.

The concrete and glass structure is almost transparent on the side that faces Biscayne Bay, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and glass balconies.
