Models Own Colour Chrome Collection

Models Own Colour Chrome Collection is the latest Models Own collection doing the rounds on the blogs. It’s a striking collection on packaging alone, that’s for sure. But, as much as I am a shallow human being I do like to know that what’s in the bottle is equally (or more) exciting than outside. So let’s take a closer look…

Ok, I’ll be honest – I have totally unrealistic expectations when it comes to a chrome finish polish. I’m just waiting and hoping for the day someone manages to capture that ‘liquid metal’ effect in a bottle polish. Right now I’m pretty sure that wraps are the only way to do it. I did have some high hopes for these shades – don’t get me wrong, they’re really pretty. But in all truth I was hoping for a little more chrome-like and just feel a bit like the finish isn’t all that new? In fact, it does really remind me of the Essie collection a few years back that included Penny Talk? (Pics of the bottles I mean HERE). Having said that, this Models Own collection does have a bigger range of shades – which does make it a bit more exciting. Plus it is a really lovely finish – one coat could be gotten away with as they’re so pigmented. The swatches are two coats FYI.

The full colour range includes: Pink, Silver, Indigo, Gold, Cerise, Rose, Green, Mauve, Olive and Blue… PHEW. A lot of shades. Here I have (left to right) Indigo, Cerise, Mauve, Rose and Olive.

I would love to see Olive alongside Gold as that would really bring out the green-tone of it. It’s subtle, but does make it interesting. My favourite would probably be the Indigo – I am a sucker for anything in the blue family. Also – that’s another one I’d love to see how it differs to the Blue shade. I assume the blue is a little cooler but not sure.

I personally love the finish of a metallic polish – I think it’s a bit of a love or hate thing about the brush strokes. I kinda like it. Adds a bit of texture. But of course if the brush stroke effect could be removed it might be a step closer to the chrome finish…dilemma!

Overall, I love how this range has a large selection of metallic shades. They’re great quality – although some of the shades are very similar to ones I’ve seen before. So maybe not the most original, but an expansion on a collection that really works. Which shade stands out to you the most?
