Sunday ramble… and I mean a ramble…

It’s Sunday, which apparently means it’s time for me to have a little ramble. Why do I keep making a habit of this? Who knows. But here goes anyway. Another Sunday ramble for you…

Random fact, but I’m sitting here watching a re-run of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as I type. Every time I watch a Victoria’s Secret Show I get such a mixed feeling. Firstly, jealousy. Why wasn’t I genetically blessed in such a way that I have legs for days? Secondly I wonder what they use to make their skin glow like they do?! Oh, and what shade of lipgloss… you know, serious questions pondering of course. All semi irrelevant of course.

Motivation

How can it already be half way through January? It seems it was only a blink ago we were about to celebrate Christmas and New Year and now it’s technically past that ‘ok’ to wish Happy New Year point. I kicked off the year with a full on burst of motivation. Last week I had a couple of distracted days – where I was starting a million different tasks and finishing none of them. Everyone has days like that I guess, but it throws me off a bit. In fact, as I sit here writing I’m just remembering a list of things I needed to get done but still have on the to-do list. Still feeling motivated, but guess it’s normal to have an off day from time to time.

Home dreaming:

One of the big things that tends to be top of my distraction list? Home dreaming. Not for a new home, I’m quite happy with my current flat. I just want to make it look a bit prettier. With the wedding and everything we held off doing a lot of things we probably wanted to – which means the home dreams list has had more and more stuff added to it. For me, top of the list right now are two things – one, a new sofa. Ever since I took over what was the spare room and turned it into my office we have pretty much lost ability to have people stay here as we have nothing decent for them to sleep on. So, a bigger sofa with a sofa bed is a priority. I know, life is just so freaking exciting. We actually found one we want today from Multi York… now just a case of finding the pennies to get it.

Then next up is the bathroom. Which until recently I was ok with, but over recent weeks I’ve been getting more aware that a lot of things need fixing to make it better. So this weekend I’ve been doing a bit of research to find out what sort of money I’d be looking at to make over the bathroom. Not necessarily from head to toe – but a few new fixtures/fittings, lick of paint, new floor and maybe some new tiling… Still. LIFE IS EXCITING.

I guess this is probably a bit of a heads up – as much as beauty is always number one. There’s a huge part of me that’s totally in the home/interiors zone at the moment. So planning to do some blogging on that front – it’s something I love so hopefully will be fun to read for others. Plus, who doesn’t want to be nosy and have a peek at other people’s houses?!

See, told you this was a ramble.

Blogging/Share the Love:

On the blogging front. For me, it feels like pretty much business as usual. But having said that – I do still sense a bit of a rumbling of change. Not in a bad way at all – change is good. In fact it would be amazing to see some (more) change perhaps – there are so many bloggers/you tubers out there creating amazing, genuine and unique content but perhaps not getting the recognition they really should for it. I guess it’s like any industry though – there’s always going to be the “L’Oreal and the Estee Lauder” types that will dominate and be the big players. But that doesn’t mean that other “brands/products” won’t get a look in. They just have to maybe fight a bit harder to be heard.

I guess for me, I kind of just miss the days where everyone was a little more friendly and there was a bit more camaraderie. Personally, I love nothing more than discovering new blogs I love or sharing posts I’ve enjoyed from people I read regularly. There just sometimes seems to be the sense people don’t want to do that any more as it’s just gotten so much more competitive. Fair enough, totally up to each individual how they do things. But for me, I want to make an even more conscious effort to share, comment on and blog about other blogs I love. It just feels like it’s in the ‘blogging spirit’ – and I don’t just mean the same-old faces. I really do love reading new blogs and finding ones I’ve stumbled across on recommendations from others. So if you have ones you love do leave a little link below and tell me – share the blog love!
