After a weekend workout, I often arrive home feeling sweaty and quite hungry. Rather than reach an awful tasting protein powder shake, I like to mix up my own smoothie using seasonal fruit resulting in a much more satisfying (and better tasting) post workout snack.
Ingredients
- handful of frozen raspberries
- handful of fresh blueberries
- 1 small banana
- 1 tsbp of protein powder
- 1/3 - 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk depending on how thick you like it
- shredded coconut
- flaked almonds
Method
- Pop the fruit into a blender - I like to chop up the fruit a bit before I add it so it's easier to blend.
- Mix the protein powder into the almond milk before adding to the blender. This eliminates those annoying pockets of unmixed powder!
- Blend on a low speed for about one minute.
- Pour into a large glass, and sprinkle the shredded coconut and flaked almonds on top.
Best consumed with the help of a spoon!
