Must Visit Food Spots in Queenstown

Despite being a relatively small town, more commonly known as being the adventure capital, Queenstown plays a strong restaurant and cafe game. It is home to some of the tastiest treats on the South Island of New Zealand. So if you're looking to satisfy your post-adrenaline food craving, you won't be left wanting. Don't head into any old cafe though, make sure you find your way to one of these top food spots.

Vudu Cafe and Larder

There are two Vudu Cafes - Vudu Cafe and Larder is located on Rees St right on the lakefront. It's a classic cafe menu with a focus on healthier options, with the menu featuring: oat, quinoa & barley porridge; tofu laska; and my top pick homemade almond granola with rhubarb, accompanied by a well-made soy flat white.

Patagonia Chocolates

Also found down on the lakefront underneath Absoloot Backpackers (my pick of accommodation!), Patagonia Chocolates not only offers great chocolates, but gelato and sorbet, churros, excellent coffee, and a decent breakfast menu. I can highly recommend the boysenberry, apple, and strawberry sorbet!

Fergbaker

Completing the trio of Fergs including Mrs Fergs and Fergburger, Fergbaker offers an amazing choice of baked goods, sandwiches, and pies making it a one-stop destination. Many people rave about the desserts, but the pies are seriously good, especially if the wait for Fergburger next door is too long. The pork belly and apple pie may actually be the best pie I've ever had!

Fergburger

Fergburger is Queenstown's insanely popular burger-joint, and rightly so. The burgers from this place are legendary, and by all accounts worth the hype. Make no mistake, Fergburger is open 21 hours a day (for real) however there is ALWAYS a line. Always. There are measures in place to ensure to don't need to stick around one you place your order - they give you an ETA, and you can check on your order via their website. Trust me, this Cockadoodle Doo burger was 100% worth the 15 minute wait. You will have difficulty deciding on a burger from the massive menu.

Honourable Mentions: (I didn't have time to visit these places, but they all have very positive reviews from visitors and residents alike)

Winnies Pizza

Winnies also doubles as a nightclub in the evening (which I did manage to get to!) - so if you're planning on having one of Winnies' famous pizzas for dinner, get in early.

The Cow

Pizza and pasta house located in the hideaway lane way Cow Lane. Top spot for winter due to the big fireplace and cozy vibes.

Madam Woo

Chinese and Malay restaurant located just down from Winnies. Offers tasty street-style food for a decent price. Busy almost every night, so get in early.
