Celebrating 160 Years In Style.

If you consider it, it's rather crazy that The LV monogram has been around for 160 years and still as popular than ever. What girl didn't crave a Louis Vuitton monogram bag at some point in their lives? It's rather a good idea to make hat craving even more insatiable by creating the above shown little works of art; the result of a collaboration between influential icons from a variety artistic disciplines and Louis Vuitton. Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Cindy Sherman, Marc Newson, Rei Kawakubo and last but certainly not least; Frank Gehry created individual pieces, each reflecting their personalities and style while always keeping the birthday child - the monogram central. That sounds like a damn tempting project on paper if you ask me, and so is the results of it: a fun, yet personal point of view on a classic bestseller. Mission accomplished: major craving alert - not as though Louis Vuitton didn't already have too many of these lately!
Personal favorites are Cindy Sherman's Trunk including a little chair and oh- so many details here and there: stickers, drawers, mirrors, a separate handbag, it's all there. And another one: I guess I got that little architectural spark from my father, an architect himself, so it comes without surpsrise that Gehry's "twisted box" is the actual number one on my list. The interior is embossed with a hand drawn interpretation of the LV logo and in a beautiful shade of catalina blue - little mirror included. But actually - If I could, I would take them all... After all, who wouldn't?
Another very inspiring, refreshing and young project from Louis Vuitton - ever since Nicolas Ghesquière took over the brand, it's never looked invigorating and more energizing. Keep it up guys!
