MONOCHROME
It's full steam ahead at London Fashion Week and after having watched Topshop's Unique Show yesterday afternoon via a live-stream (post on that coming up soon) I am officially fully engrossed in the midst of it all.
As you may or may not know, the fashion Gods from somewhere up above declared a few months ago that monochrome prints and patterns have made it onto the spring/summer 2013 trend list. When I first learnt of this after reading an issue of Company Magazine a couple of months ago, I was a little apprehensive and not
quite so keen on it. However, I wasn't letting myself dismiss it completely and so with this thought, I decided to turn to the internet to see if I could come up with some looks that would float my boat.
1) Monochrome Chic
Pinafores have always been a favourite of mine and this super cute one from Miss Selfridge (found
here) is perfect for wearing the monochrome trend. It can be dressed down with a t-shirt or denim blouse, or dressed up with a white shirt, as shown above, like
this one from Topshop. Accessories are how you can really give your outfit some character and here I've opted for a chunky statement
necklace and
bracelets from Forever 21. Some black heels finish off the look! I recommend healed brogues are chunky sandals like
this one from H&M.
2) Edgy Casual
Teaming black
disco pants and a plain white
crop top, such as those from American Apparel, are perfect for a cool but casual look. The cut out
flatforms from River Island add a little edge to the whole look as do this awesome monochrome
barrel bag from Accessorize. I love the detailing on it, especially the stag buckle! In chillier weather, throw over this stripy
bomber jacket from Warehouse to keep you warm. It's practically killing two trends with one stone as bomber jackets are a big thing this season too!
3) Party All Night
This
blouse from ASOS has such pretty detailing on the collar and I love it! It works well with this faux leather skater
skirt from Warehouse for a classy evening/party outfit. With monochrome, it can be very easy for your outfit to become dull and repetitive so personally, I would brighten it up with a splash of neon, like this over the shoulder
bag from Miss Guided. Finally, no party outfit is complete without accessories! I absolutely love the design of this Urban Outfitters triangular
watch as it's so unique. Just like in the 'Monochrome Chic' look, I have opted to finish this outfit with statement jewellery: a
spike and
tube bracelet from Topshop, a skull
ring from Topshop and a glossy black
ring from H&M.
Hope you liked this post! Let me know in the comments what you think as I really enjoy doing these types of posts. Also, comment which outfit is your favourite, how you personally style monochrome or just your general thoughts on this trend!
