motherhood,gloomy weather and grateful hearts

On this cold and raining morning I’ve been doing some thinking about what I want my daughter to know about my life and how open we should be with our children. I know that I want her to be open with me and come to me when she needs something. I think that in order to get her to feel that way I need to be open and honest with her about my life and what I’ve done or not done. In this moment I’m grateful for the fact that my history is pretty tame and there probably isn’t much I wouldn’t want her to know, Maybe just a couple things. Of course as she gets older I will be willing to share more with her. I’m not going to share things with her now when she’s 8 that I might be willing to discuss when she’s 14 or 15.

I am glad that for now she is still little and I can have little girl talks and save the big heavy things for the future. It’s this chilly and raining weather. For a Southern California like me it makes me sleepy and do a lot of thinking. I’m glad I live with the sunshine most of the time. All of you in the snow I don’t know how you do it. I could do a few days of snow but big long winters would leave me depressed and no fun. It’s so pretty and I’d love to visit the snow but not live in it. So what are you feeling grateful for today?
