DIY Weekends: Koi Dreams

Okay, I cheated. Technically this was a DIY I did a couple of weeks ago, but I have not gotten a chance to share this DIY with everyone so here it is!

The interesting story behind this illustration was that I found a box of Faber-Castell watercolor pencils hidden in my art supply storage bin and decided to give them a whirl. I actually really like these pencils since I can barely use watercolor paints myself. The interesting part (sorry, it took me a while to get up to this point) was that the next morning three of the koi fish in my backyard died! It was the most unfortunate turn of events given that I drew three koi fishes the night before. Turns out, due to the heavy rain and strong winds we were having, it knocked over the water filter and they passed away. Now we have a new filter and the remaining fishes are happy. May the three koi fishes rest in paradise.
