Let's Talk: Girl Of The Year American Girl Dolls!

Girl of the Year dolls have been on my mind, so I thought, why not talk about it with you today? :) The Girl of the Year line of American Girl has always been so interesting to me! When I first heard of American Girl, Kailey (GOTY 2003) was in the catalog. I didn't quite understand that she was only around for one year, but I loved looking at the pictures of her beachy collection. Here's a quick list of all of the American Girl of the Year dolls and their names:

  • Lindsey Bergman (2001)
  • Kailey Hopkins (2003)
  • Marisol Luna (2005)
  • Jess McConnell (2006)
  • Nicki Fleming (2007)
  • Mia St. Clair (2008)
  • Chrissa Maxwell, Sonali Matthews, Gwen Thompson (2009)
  • Lanie Holland (2010)
  • Kanani Akina (2011)
  • McKenna Brooks (2012)
  • Saige Copeland (2013)
  • Isabelle Palmer (2014)
  • Grace Thomas (2015)

There have been fifteen Girl of the Year dolls total! You may notice that there was a one-two year gap between the first three dolls. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing American Girl was trying to figure out the popularity of the line.

I own two Girl of the Year dolls, Mia and Saige. If I could go back and buy a retired Girl of the Year, I think I'd pick Kanani or Jess, they were both so cute! :)

My cousin Julia has Lanie!

I saw McKenna at the American Girl Atlanta Store in 2012.

And, last November I saw Isabelle at the Columbus store before she was gone! :)

Now...it's your turn to talk, I have some questions for you!!

  • Which Girl of the Year dolls do you have?
  • Which retired Girl of the Year doll would you get if you could?
  • Do you remember which Girl of the Year doll was out when you first got into American Girl?
  • Which American Girl of the Year doll is your favorite?

You can answer all or one, I'd love to hear from you! Let's get chatting! ;)
