Closet Purging & Goodwill Finds

I got it in my head that there are a few spaces I really want to focus our attention on. One of those spaces are the upstairs closets. These closets go into the attic eves and are side by side in the upstairs hallway. Over time they have become quite stuffed.

Umm…yeah. I clearly came of age in the 90’s.

I think it is time to say goodbye to these shoes. There were some good finds in there! Photos, notes, pictures, yearbooks. It was a fun jog down memory lane. The clothes are clothes that got moved upstairs when I was pregnant with Quinn. He is six years old now, so I decided it was time. I didn’t get rid of everything, but I got rid of a lot. My limited dress slacks in normal-I-could-wear-again sizes are keepers. The size S sparkly Abercrombie & Fitch tank is outta here. Clearly, regardless of how small I get or how fit I am, some of these clothes should just not be worn by me anymore.

Plus another bag that was sitting in Quinn’s car seat and two bags for my mom/sister to go through.

I didn’t even touch the other closet. I’m hoping to work through the closets and find a way to really utilize that space in a way the functions for our family. Of course, dropping things off at Goodwill means running in to Goodwill for a quick look.

My fun finds! A Target pillow for $3.

Pretty stinking fabulous! Did you know Target donates to Goodwill? A donation must have just come in, because there was lots of Target goodies. This lamp is a Target goodie too.

I’ve actually almost bought it several times. Obviously we need to add a shade, but the lamp and pillow are good to go. The other items need some love.

I bought the art for the pure size of the frame. We actually attempted making a frame that size. The scale of the piece made it worth buying for us. We debated a few other pieces and even brought a luggage rack to the checkout counter. That is when we realized that it was cracked, so we decided against it.

With three kids, stopping to hit rummage sales becomes exhausting. It seemed like every time I was driving by a rummage sale we had somewhere to be. Running through Goodwill here and there is the closest I get these days to the thrill of the hunt.

Now I just have to find some time to give these pieces a little love!
