Hail To The Veil: The Veiled Headpiece Trend

A veil immediately conjures up images of a bride, right? Wrong. Veils were all over the Spring/ Summer 2015 Couture runways in Paris at both Chanel and Giambattista Valli. One thing you can count on: Paris couture will dictate trends for months to come. Karl Lagerfeld isn’t called a fashion G-d for nothing.

During the freezing winter months, style can take a spot on the backburner. Lately, it’s been a succession of sweaters, skinny jeans, boots, and beanies. If you’re feeling bored and want to shake things up a bit despite the near-Arctic temperature, veils are a fabulous way to do just that. While probably not the best idea for the office, a veil is definitely a great way to take your outfit up a notch. It’s definitely difficult to dress up when the streets are covered in slush, so work around Mother Nature’s annoyances with fun, fashionable accessories. Basic girls love statement necklaces, but bad b*tches will rock a veil.

Here are the best veiled options at all price points:

To make a major statement at a black tie event, splurge on the Jennifer Behr Orchid Beehive Swarovski Crystal-Embellished Headband ($1500). For the same look at a more wallet-friendly price, go with the RED Valentino Viscose Satin Headband with Veil ($108).

A beanie with fur AND a veil? Yes, please. BCBG Max Azria Winter Veil Beanie with Genuine Fur Pompom ($68).

If you want to ease into this trend mildly and start small, look to the ASOS Bow Veil Hair clip ($4).

Spice up an après-ski outfit with Betsey Johnson’s Veiled Beanie Hat ($24). Like spiked hot coco, it’s sweet with a twist.

To keep the Maison Michel ‘Liane’ Veiled Headband ($435) from looking overly girly, pair it with a tougher item such as a black leather jacket.

For girls who never follow fashion rules, go with the ASOS Beanie with Embellishment and Detachable Veil/Pom ($18). The unique color and embellishment paired with the veil are not for the faint of heart.
