Friday Favorite: hair tutorial

the quarter-up top knot

this hairstyle has been my go-to as of late. seems like i constantly have people asking me how to do it. i am sort of embarrassed to have a tutorial on it because it is so simple!

it’s the perfect summer hair do. just getting that hair out of your face makes it 10 degrees cooler (scientific fact, people).

Here’s how it’s done.

1. Start with some simple soft waves (i.e. day 2 hair)

2. You want to now grab a good section of hair. Not too thin(Tara Reid) not too much (Courtney Love). You also don’t want a clean part. So put your comb and perfectionist-ism away. Then rubber-band it at the back of the crown (placement is also key!)

3. On the last loop-around, don’t pull the hair through and leave it in a loop.

4. Here’s the trick to this ‘do. You want to play with the bun you just made. Twist the ends around the loop and play with the “looped” hair until it looks how you like it. Then hold it into place with one hand of fingers and use the other hand to replace your fingers with bobby pins.

And you’re done!

Easy-peasy summer hair for moms on the go. And everyone else.
