Shopbop has long promised a shopping destination for men—and it’s finally arrived. Called East Dane, the site boasts an encyclopedia of brands—Apolis, Alexander Wang, Vince, Herschel, Filson, Billy Reid—which would indicate that it’d like to be the one-stop shop for guys of every taste demographic. It certainly seems possible, particularly because they’re prompting men to log in with their Amazon credentials on the front page (Shopbop, East Dane, etc. are all owned by Amazon)—who doesn’t want their Marc by Marc Jacobs shipped Prime?
I almost wonder if the selection won’t be overpowering for most men: Rob happens to be one of those shoppers who finds his thing (A.P.C. and Levi’s jeans, J.Crew buttondowns, James Perse t-shirts) and then refuses to deviate. I just can’t see him getting lost in pages of sweater options. But then, I could be very, very wrong. Mr. Porter seems like a raging success (whereas Park & Bond failed). These pieces might turn his head. What say you?
Meanwhile, since I love to shop a men’s department, I’d be tripping over myself to get to this shirt and these camo shoes (from a Maine-based brand I’d never heard of but am pleased to know!).
