Notting Hill Carnival

Last weekend we headed off to the Notting Hill Carnival which has been held in Notting Hill since 1966. The Carnival is part Caribbean festival in that there is great music, raggae and soca and part street party. While the floats wind down the main streets of Notting Hill, the side streets are closed down for street parties. Imagine booming soca on one street, popular music on another and electronic dance music on another street. To boot, there were even a local DJs lay spinning beats.

I can see why the Carnival is such a popular location as it seems that everyone in the whole of London descended to West London to party. Check it out next year if you are around London in late August.
