Quartzite Gem Show

Another wonderful year at quartzite gem show. There's something about this show that I prefer over Tucson. Tucson is amazing and I wish I was there right now, but quartzite has its perks. Less people, more hippie, tacky rv themed t-shirts and a middle of nowhere vibe. I've been seeing so many photos of people at Tucson on Instagram and while I can't be there I thought I would share some photos from quartzite. Of course I barely took any photos even though I brought 3 cameras and had my phone the entire time. But here are some highlights from the trip

Every year we drive by the sand dunes and I wish I owned a dune buggy. There is a lookout point where you can see nothing but sand everywhere you look. it feels as though you've been transported into the Sahara desert. It's really quite stunning. This time we went on a weekend however so it is covered in tracks. Hopefully next time I can get a chance to ride the dunes!

The drive to quartzite is really beautiful. And by beautiful I mean my idea of what that means. The whole way you take back roads and small highways. You get to see parts of California you probably wouldn't otherwise see. Cotton fields, broccoli fields, abandoned towns and gorgeous sunsets while nostalgic music plays on the stereo. I love trips like these. Tiny middle of nowhere towns where i wonder what people do for fun. I would much rather go on a trip wherr i can take photos of abandoned buildings and see weird stuff than a more traditional vacation. I live for weird shit.

I even had my cards read by a wandering fortune teller. It was an unexpected break during the gem show and my reading was really accurate for my life right now. I really liked the spread he used to represent the 12 astrological houses like you would see on a birth chart, I will have to try it myself!
