1. If you could spend Valentine's Day with any book character, who would it be and why?
My first instinct was Mr. Darcy until I remembered that he would probably be disdainful of my very pedestrian life. So I think I’d rather share the day with George Easton from The Trouble with Honor. I like a guy who pulls himself up by his bootstraps. And he would be able to take as good as he gave, so I think it would be a fun sexy day.
2. What was the best Valentine's Day you've had?
When I was much younger, a special guy took me to New York City for a Valentine’s Day weekend. I think it was one of the first times I’d ever been to New York and I had a blast. There was dinner and a play and then drinks…and, well, you can guess the rest. I’ve had many Valentine Days since then, and I’ve enjoyed most of them, but that one stands out.
3. All expenses paid, where would you want to spend Valentine's Day, and why?
The location doesn’t matter to me as much as the company. With the right man, I’d be perfectly happy at home on Valentine’s Day. I like to imagine Valentine’s Day in some remote location where there is no one else around but me and him. Except for the guy who must be nearby to bring the champagne and chocolate. But then that guy should quietly disappear and let us enjoy the champagne and chocolate. Maybe a private island. Yeah, that’s it—a private island J
4. What's the best romantic movie to watch with a special someone?
Sleepless in Seattle! They don’t make them like that anymore.
5. What's the best romantic movie to watch by yourself?
Back to Mr. Darcy. I absolutely adore Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. But that is one of those movies I could not bear to watch with some man sitting next to me and asking, “What’d he say?” and “Why is he dressed like that?” and “Oh my God, that’s how they danced?” Yeah, no—that would ruin one of the most romantic movies for me, so I would watch that one by myself. Or with other women who get it.
