CLOSET REMIX: WORKING WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

I recently met with my go-to photographer and good buddy Christina of Photo Says Hello to help rework a few items in her closet and prepare for an anniversary photo shoot with her husband Matt.

It's so easy to run to the mall or your favorite boutique and buy items when you're unsure of what you already own. But taking the time to look through your closet and mixing pieces together to create a whole new wardrobe is part of the fun of fashion!

Christina has a very romantic style (think Downton Abbey), which translates to lots of printed blouses, embellished cardigans and long, flowy skirts.

I really like this look we put together. A pleated skirt from Forever21, sparkly cardigan from LOFT and a white tank/cami as base. We paired with floral print wedges and a delicate chain necklace with an owl motif!
This next look was a bit more daring. I happen to be a fan of mixing prints and patterns, and was so happy when Christina admitted she loved this trend too! The navy skirt and purple/navy tank top was a no-brainer. But once we added the long striped cardigan, it pulled the entire look together. And Mary Jane heels? Perfection! I call this look, "Sexy, sophisticated librarian!"

A closer look at her adorable floral-printed wedges!

We dressed up these skinny jeans with a pair of red peep-toe slingbacks. This was from the first look posted above. The ruffle blouse and lariat necklace brought the ensemble together, which is perfect for date night or dinner with friends!
I always say, mixing pieces you already own is like shopping for new clothes! Do you have items just sitting in your closet? Want to discover new ways to work with what you already have?
