Friday Fitness: Recovery Week, Avocados & Salsa!

Happy Friday Folks!

Boy am I happy it’s Friday. This week I dealt with all kinds of homeowner fun including a busted pipe in the wall, a clogged tub and the shoveling—the shoveling.

Work was unusually tough personally.

Oh and Sasha got hurt last weekend…..

But she is okay now.

I saw this sign at the half last weekend and have been referring to it ever since…

Gotta love it! But we are here to talk fitness and wellness so let’s do it!

Sunday: I ran the Princess Half Marathon!
Monday: rest (so sore)
Tuesday: rest 20% less sore
Wednesday: felt almost normal so I went to spin class and did an upper body workout on the TRX
Thursday: I took a client to lunch so no gym
Friday: Media Day Trip planned so no gym for mama
Saturday: Teaching Zumba
Sunday: Washington Heights 5k!

It felt amazing to be back in spin class, I hadn’t been in so long! Everyone welcomed me back with open arms and my instructor took us through a intense interval filled 45 minutes.

I have had an obsession with avocados lately. All I want is guacamole or avocado on toast. #nom I also discovered Sahale Snacks! I picked up their cranberry honey raisin almonds and oh baby. Heaven!

I did not run this week! On purpose! Haha. I decided to give myself a break with the running this week because I am just mentally spent after the half. You already know a full recap is coming in three glorious parts. I am just waiting for the marathon foto pictures to all come in because they are kind of amazing.

On Sunday I will be running my first race in my 9 1 guaranteed entry quest for the 2016 NYC marathon. I will be traveling allllllllll the way uptown to run 3 miles. Me: here in brooklyn–race: Alllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way over there in Washington Heights. Who does that?! This girl.

The cool part about it though is that it’s a salsa, blues and shamrock 5k! There will be bands and all kinds of fun along the course and that is what I am looking forward to the most. I also can’t guarantee that I won’t stop and dance salsa with an old Puerto Rican man while I’m running. The 5k isn’t competitive for me, it’s more fun, and the more I run the more I realize that PRs are awesome but enjoying the experience means more to me than any personal record. I’m just so happy to have two feet that can go such long distances!

How was your fitness week? Do you love avocados? Have you ever tried Sahale Snacks?
