Friday Fitness: Training Fail + The End of FITNESS Magazine?

Happy Friday!

How did all of you northeast make it through the snow? I am happy it wasn’t as bad as was expected and I am also happy that I got a day home. Even though I was working from home it was nice not having to get up at 5:10am, get two kids and myself ready and barely make a school bus arrival. Yes. It was awesome.

Run report

Holy smokes running long distances on a treadmill is hard work. I’ve only run over 7 miles once before and that was because I was in Orlando and it was 92 degrees with full humidity outside. Last week I thought I prepared but ended up a complete mess.

I decided that I would take my tablet, wifi connection and sheer determination to the gym to run 8 miles last Friday. I turned on my HULU to continue my binge watching of The Good Wife and began my run. About mile 4 I realized this was going to be way harder than I expected.

The reason why I started to “feel it” is because I truly didn’t treat it like a “long run”. Had it been normal temps outside I would have packed my flipbelt with gu, clif shots, and filled my water bottle with a nuun hydration tablet. I did none of the above.

So yes, I was running 8 miles with nothing but water to drink. This may work for some but for me? I needed something anythingto keep me going. The crazy part is that I have plenty of gu and nuun at home! Lesson learned. I will be fully prepared for today’s 9-10 miler!
