Interview with Kevin Christiana on The Adam Levine Collection
Last week I had the opportunity to meet Kevin Christiana, the Creative Director of the Adam Levine Collection which is sold exclusively at Kmart. He sat down and shared with me the inspiration for the line, how involved Adam really is with the creative direction, and future of the brand.
So tell me about the Adam Levine Collection?
The Adam Levine Collection is a denim based collection that has become very successful in the denim department. We are trying to make the denim look as high end as possible at an affordable price point. We really pay attention to making sure everything single part of the jean looks real–like it really happened. Sometimes you see a really fake worn out pair of jeans like a cat scratched it–this line shows what happened to the denim from the raw state right down to the destructed state.
Since Adam wears his jeans on a day to day basis we stalk him a little bit to get the jeans from the collection as close to his as possible. So when you put them together and hold up a pair of $150 jeans and a pair of Adam Levine $29.99 jeans you don’t really see the difference.
What types of fits and styles are in the collection?
We have a range of fits and a range of washes–we are trying to tell a story where it’s like here’s raw, here’s destructed and each stage of it where do you fit? We want it to be interactive with the customer.

To kick it up a notch we started a project called Project Blue Collar Worker. The jeans were handed over in their raw form to construction workers and painters. We saw what naturally happened to their jean (the wear and tear) and we recreated that.
What about the trendier sorts of denim?
We do have fashion denim. When we drain our collection we have our basics then we have a pocket of fashion denim. The more destructed the jean gets the more it becomes a fashion jean.

I think as moms and women in general we want to make sure that we always have the perfect pair of jeans. Ones that will survive the playground–you can bend over without worry! We always are afraid of the mom jean too because there is absolutely nothing flattering about mom jeans.
I was able to try a few samples of the women’s line and I picked this gorgeous grey pair of jeans and this graphic tee that honestly fit like a glove. The tee felt so comfortably that I simply did not want to take it off and let’s be real folks if anyone knows me, this is pretty much my attitude 24/7. “Immediately if not right now” Ha!
The Adam Levine Collection at Kmart has everything you could think of for Men (hoodies, dress shirts, denim and everything in between) and also great pieces for women including dresses, tees, tops and several cuts of jeans. All of the items are $40 and under and are high quality. Next time you are in Kmart take a look at the Adam Levine Collection and you will be pleasantly surprised!
