Camille Charriere

New lengths

(Ph. Vanity Fair - Michael C Dumler - Carola De Armas - Facehunter)
"Why are you dressed like a football referee?", my helpful family asked as I sat down for breakfast on my first day back home in Paris for fashion week. Tucking into my homemade jam on toast, I couldn't help but wonder if the cropped pants were a tad too boyish - even for the likes of me. Way to throw me off my stride, Charriere clan, thanks!
But as I sipped my tea, pouring over the mountain of Spring-Summer 14 coverage I had not yet had time to explore for all the running around in 3G-less zones this month, my heart skipped a beat. There she was. The Queen of Cling. The woman whose signature body-skimming dresses have become a fashion fixture, despite her having been an industry player for five short years only. Victoria Beckham, greeting the crowd after her show, hands nonchalantly tucked into the pockets of an uncharacteristically masculine getup of sharp tailored culottes paired with a clean button-down shirt. Taking power dressing to new lengths, and doing so in style.
Call me a follower if you must, but with that, I skipped off to the Tuileries with a knowing smile on my face and a spring in my step. New season referee it is, then.
