Brit Awards 2014: Red Carpet Style & Beauty

I do have a soft spot for the Brit Awards. Maybe it goes back to the days when I used to tape them off the TV and then spend the next week learning the dance routine to the Spice Girls, or maybe it's the nostalgic memory of 90s Brit Pop rock stars behaving badly. Whatever you think of the Brits, it does have that light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek vibe that most awards show lack and this always comes across on the red carpet.

The style gurus at Venus have been kind enough to share with me their take on this fun, flirty and sparkly red carpet and the beauty and style tips that you can try yourself. First off we have Venus Celebrity Stylist, Angie Smith, who reveals her coveted styling advice so you can recreate these looks at home, while Venus Beauty Therapist Nathalie Eleni shares her insider tips on recreating the hottest red carpet beauty trends.

If you want to play with your style and hair colour to make maximum Katy Perry-esque impact, then make like Lily Allen by following Angie's wise words on how to 'do' pops of colour...
When choosing a statement black dress à la Lily Allen, feel free to play with pops of colour. I love how Lily matched her canary-yellow ponytail to her clutch bag for top style points! A relatively simple hair style, Lily has brought it into the 21st century using the latest trend of wearing brights on the hair; this can be recreated by using hair chalks or a clip in extension for a less permanent, but just as effective, splash of colour.

If you've got a diamond face like Miss Rosie Huntington-Whiteley you don't have to try that hard to look flawless on the red carpet, but if you're like me you may need a hand! To help us with that dewy skin and nude lip combo, here are some pout-perfecting tips from Nathalie...
A nude lip colour layered with a subtle gloss finishes Rosie's striking look for an über glamorous effect. TOP TIP: Ensure you exfoliate your lips first and apply thick, moisture-rich lip balm 30 minutes before, so lips are in optimum condition.

Rita Ora always changes up her look on the red carpet, and often alternates her ake-up between a red lip or a smoky eye, and her style somewhere between elegant and in your face. If you're showing some skin and going for one bold, luxe colour like Rita did on the red carept tonight you need your skin to look fresh and vibrant. Luckily Nathalie can help us out again...
When wearing such bold and bright colours, glowing skin is a must-have accessory, especially with those cameras flashing! Ensure you revitalise your complexion with a light exfoliation treatment, removing any residual dry or dead skin cells, and a replenishing moisturising routine, using a body butter to create a healthy, natural sheen.
Huge thank you to the fabulous Venus team for sharing their beauty and style tips from the Brits. I'm off to buff, exfoliate and moisturise - I just need a red carpet event to go to now!
