Ever get overwhelmed?

In today’s busy world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, considering most of us have a lot on our plates. I’m guilty of getting so overwhelmed that I notice myself running from responsibilities instead of taking care of them. I’m much better than I used to be, but my friends will tell you my voicemail has been full for three months and I refuse to clear it, due to having to take care of whatever people are calling about.

Finding the time to work, be a mom, a girlfriend, a lover, clean the house, go to the grocery store, write daily blogs, attend personal appearances, etc. can make me feel at times like I’m the rope in a tug-of-war battle. So to help, I go back and look into my toolbox of self-help items and dust off the tool that always helps me to not feel overwhelmed.

I call the tool “this first.” I named it that to remind myself only to concentrate on the task that is currently in front of me. If I let my mind think about everything I have to do in a day or a week, I start to feel panicked and overwhelmed.

So the next time you start to panic about all the sh*t you have to get done, I’m happy to loan you my “this first” tool. If used correctly, your new mantra will be “I got this” and not “(bleep bleep bleep).”
