Why I Changed My Blog Name

I’ve been blogging on this same blog for three years and it has had three different names and rebrands. So pretty much each year, I decide to take this blog in a new direction. Poor blog has been through so much, but it just sticks right by me anyways!

Before I get on my tangent about why I’ve decided to change my blog name this time, I first wanted to give a shout out to Bluehost for being the best damn hosting service eva. I set aside two hours to figure out how to switch my domain name over myself, but was able to use Bluehost’s online chat service to get help. Instead of trying to figure out what the hell I was doing, reading ten million articles about switching your blog domain ten different ways, and then still fucking up, Chris from Bluehost was able to DO EVERYTHING FOR ME within twenty minutes.

Did you hear what I just said?! One of the fantastic customer service peeps at Bluehost did EVERYTHING FOR ME and I didn’t even have to bat an eyelash. I always hear people talking about how awesome Bluehost’s customer service is and this just takes the cake. I’m ecstatic. Looks like I’ll be getting to bed on time tonight after all, folks!

Now, about why I’ve changed my blog name yet again.

When I first started my blog on August 1, 2012 (yes, I seriously waited until the first of the month because I can’t start things on weird dates), I started it as a DIY blog. I was inspired by all of those awesome crafts I saw floating around Pinterest and I wanted to do that myself! (This was also before I found out that lifestyle blogs exist.)

After discovering the lifestyle blog and realizing that holy cow, people can write about their lives and other people actually read it??, I was all about the lifestyle/mommy blog. I was a new mom and it was fun to connect with other moms. However, I love my child to pieces, but I don’t have the humor and zest that all of the other great mom bloggers have. So I stopped writing posts about our lives and switched more to helpful posts–how to single parent and things like that.

However my absolute favorite posts to write are those about my field and career passion–content/social media marketing. I’m employed by a company right now as a Social Media Manager and of course I love it, but my end goal is eventually to work for myself. So this is how I’m going to make it happen.

Chloe Social is going to be all about social media blogging tips both for bloggers and small business owners. However, I’m also going to (eventually) offer social media marketing/consulting packages for those of you that just can’t figure out social media or just don’t have the time to DIY your own social media marketing. For some, it’s just plain more time/cost efficient to outsource your internet marketing. And since I live and breathe social media, I am definitely your girl.

However, I am currently offering a package for undergrads that are about to head out into the real world–social media consulting for your job search. I’m offering a number of services, ranging from LinkedIn consulting, to summary writing, to the whole shebang & making sure that all of your social media look professional and appropriate!

I’m seriously so excited for this blog. There will still be a few changes coming–definitely a new design & probably a new logo in the near, or possibly distant because these things cost money, future. The current logo is something I slapped together with my next to nonexistent Photoshop experience.

Please stick along with me during this change because I think you’re going to like everything that is to come! :)
