She Inspires: Patrice – The Mechanic in Heels

I came across the beautiful Patrice in a blogger group that I’m in. I was amazed to see such a fabulous mechanic…in heels! Because, let’s face it – you don’t often see lady mechanics. Gotta love a woman who is breaking the mold!

Name?
Patrice Banks

What do you do?
I’m the owner and operator of Girls Auto Clinic. Girls Auto Clinic empowers and caters to women through car buying and repair services.

It’s no secret that women generally do not understand vehicles – how they operate or how to maintain them. Most women do not have an interest or knowledge in cars and the automotive industry because historically they have not been the primary group to which the automotive industry markets despite the fact more than half their customers are women.

I was once one of these women. A self-proclaimed “auto airhead,” I have created a business model which supports a need in the lives of millions of women: automotive services based on trust, education, inclusion, and empowerment.

We aim to empower women (and men!) in order to take the fear and uncertainty out of the repair process while giving customers a unique and memorable automotive experience!

Where can we find you?
Girls Auto Clinic

You can only have 1 skill. What skill would that be?
The ability to listen!

What’s your favorite social media outlet and why?
I don’t really have a favorite. Sometimes I’m more in an Instagram Mood, other times I’m addicted to twitter. My interactions and followers are different for each social media outlet because they each have their own personality.!

You are an incredible inspiration, but tell us…who inspires you?
Any person who had to overcome incredible obstacles and/or struggles and has excelled. People who have the persistence and self discipline to be the exception and not the rule. There is a special fire in those people. They inspire me.

Do you have any advice for a girl or woman out there who is struggling to find her purpose or make her voice be heard?
You cannot find your purpose if you do not truly understand who you are as person. Don’t be afraid to get to know yourself, what you like, what you don’t like, what angers you, what you love. Explore these feelings and how they are linked to what drives you or motivates you in life. Stop trying to be something you are not to impress others. Physical appearance means nothing if you are unhappy and unhealthy internally. You will lose yourself, your purpose, and your peace of mind.

What makes this life thing beautiful?
Love is a beautiful thing. So many people think if you give love to someone they will love you in return. I used to think this way. Even the bible says, “Love is not self seeking.” Love is something you ‘pay forward’. Trust me, love comes back to you. It may not be from the person you want it to be. It is from the person you need it to be. Be still and listen to your subconscious. It will tell you where to find the love you need. Please love yourself.
