My First Week of Whole30, as Told in GIFS

My roommate and I both wanted to make a big difference in our health and lifestyle this year, so we challenged ourselves to do Whole30 – a program that cuts out sugar, booze (which duh is sugar), carbs (except in veggies), legumes (aka, beans) and dairy. I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy thing to do, but after a year of overindulging in just about anything I laid my eyes on, I was ready to shed some weight and feel vibrant again.

We’re officially a week in (today is day 9 to be exact) and I do feel really, really awesome. I have so much energy, I sleep better, my skin is clearer and I actually crave carrots and green beans as a snack. (Yeah, I know, it’s weird!).

Even so, this week hasn’t been simple – and I’m sure the three weeks that I have left won’t be either – but I’m excited to see how much of a difference it will make to curve my cravings and shape my lifestyle. Though I haven’t weighed myself or measured (they advise not to until the end) – I already can tell a difference in the way my clothes fit.

If you’re thinking of making a shift in your diet or exercise habits… here’s how my first week of Whole30 has been… in GIFs:

Woohoo! Grocery shopping for healthy things. Look at all these pretty veggies. I’m SO excited.

Holy moly. I can’t believe that’s how much I weigh. I’ve never been more ready for a cleanse…

..but first, I have to have a last meal. Right?

Alright, it’s day one. Off to a circuit training class with my coffee and almond milk before I go. I can do this!

This egg, veggie and meat thingy is so. good. Why didn’t I eat these earlier?!

How in the world is it only 2 p.m.? I’m. So. Tired. I want cookies. Why did I agree to do this?

I’m going to bed at 10 p.m. I just can’t stay up and drink more tea that doesn’t make me feel full, for the record.

Hmm. That’s odd. I didn’t wake up feeling hungry. I’m actually excited to go to bootcamp class this morning.

It’s 2 p.m. I’ve eaten everything I packed for the day. I’m STARVING.

Then Wednesday rolls around… Veggies? Again? I’m so over things that are green. I don’t even like the color green.

Alright, it’s end of the day on Wednesday. I made it. Apples are my BFF, they kill all sugar cravings in an instant.

Well except when my co-worker eats M&Ms next to me, that is.

But by Friday, I’m actually getting used to it. And I’m feelin’ pretty darn proud of myself.

I legit can’t stop talking about Whole30. I’m eating so much less than I used to and I’m feeling more full. This is insane.

But then Saturday comes. And there is brunch. And I can’t have the mimosas. All of the mimosas.

And all I really want to do is go out and get tipsy with my girlfriends.

And then eat some cheese topped with vanilla ice cream.

…But I did literally kick butt in that boxing class. And I wasn’t hungover for it!

And I’m sleeping better than ever.

And my stomach isn’t bloated – at all. And hasn’t been in a week!

And by Sunday night, I can’t imagine not completing the challenge. I’ve come this far! And I’m not alone!

So here’s to another week of resisting all of the cheese, red wine, pastries and popcorn that I usually love.

Just keep those cookies away from me.

It’s that time of year again! Write a self-love letter to yourself and you could win something pretty amazing.
