Essential Oils: Something New for 2015

I’ve used essential oils in soap making.

Because they are highly concentrated and they smell — wonderful.

But I guess I never realized that they offer much more than just a great scent.

Ashley over at The Handmade Home published a a really informative blog post several months ago about essential oils — and it piqued my interest. And then I found out that one of my co-workers is really into the natural, homeopathic stuff and she told me that she’s been buying a bunch of essential oils (“EOs”) on Amazon. She brought in a couple for me to try.

Cedarwood has a great outdoorsy, woodsy, natural smell to it. I love it. I swear you could use a couple drops on your skin as a cologne. And since it’s so strong, you literally only need a drop or two.

Oregano oil was the other one she let me smell. Wow! Like stepping into an Italian kitchen, I swear. I’m not sure what I’d do with a bottle of oregano oil; however, it smelled wonderful.

As an Amazon Prime member, I snooped around the Amazon site and found a lot of options (go figure). The NOW brand seems to be a popular one. That’s the brand my co-worker has been buying. And she’s very happy with the prices and quality.

There’s also a couple networking marketing companies, DoTerra and Young Living, that sell essential oils. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with networking marketing, I’ve done my share of them before. But…this time I wanted to find another source.

I stumbled across Edens Garden’s website and I was impressed. No big sales pitch. Just pure oils. And some organic ones too. And their prices were well within my range.

I ordered the Organic Top 6 set of oils. They shipped from California via First Class mail. I had them in just a few days. And let me tell you: they are AWESOME!

There are six 10ml bottles in a really nice box (perfect for gift-giving). Here’s the assortment in order of my favorites:

  1. Lemongrass
  2. Tea Tree
  3. Eucalyptus
  4. Lavender
  5. Peppermint
  6. Sweet Orange

They are all great oils, don’t get me wrong. I just happen to REALLY like the first four.

Now that I have the oils, my next purchase will be a diffuser. I have my eye on this one. For now, I’ve been adding a few drops of oil in our cool mist vaporizer at night.

Lavender makes a great night-time oil. The entire second floor of the house smells like summer. And I’m ALL about that!

If you happen to be a fan of essential oils and can help me in any way, I’d sure appreciate it!

By the way: this is NOT a sponsored post. I just happen to really like EOs and want to share them with you. While no one paid me for this post, there are some Amazon affiliate links in this post. If you click on a link and buy something from Amazon, I receive a small commission.
