Rug Goes Scarf

Recently I found a couple of merino balls in my stash in five beautiful neutral colours; Drops Merino Extra Fine Mix. Perfect for a scarf or cowl I thought. After a couple of transformation projects with patterns from my book Puur Haken, I figured I could use the floor rug pattern and just repeat it into a scarf. And so I did. Rug goes scarf!

I just put the yarn in an order I liked and started crocheting the pattern on and on with hook size 5 mm. This yarn crochets super quick, really this was done in no time. I refused to order extra yarn to make the scarf really long, and instead the buttons were used to make it into a cowl. By adding 2 extra holes in the last row, replacing the bobbles in that row, you can now close it. As shown in the picture, one extra button is added at the back to secure the cowl even more, but it’s not a necessity.

What I really like about it is how all colours show at the front when you wear it, perfectly blending in. Also, it wraps three times around my neck and is so bulky, it really is a lovely warm cowl for cool Winter days. However if you unbutton it, it’s still a scarf hanging nicely around your neck. I love versatile scarf cowls!

Deze col is gebaseerd op het patroon van het vloerkleed uit mijn boek Puur Haken. Haak met 5 bollen Drops Merino Extra Fine Mix en haaknaald 5 mm het patroon steeds door, totdat alle bollen op zijn. In de laatste toer met gaatjes en bollen haak je 4 gaatjes, waar je de knopen maakt op het andere einde van de sjaal. Ik heb ook een knoop aan de achterkant gemaakt zoals je op de foto ziet, de col verschuift dan echt niet meer. Als je de col te warm vindt haal je de knopen los en heb je weer gewoon een sjaal. Ik houd van dit soort projecten die je op meerdere manieren kunt dragen! Veel plezier ermee.
