Spring Crochet Project

What about these perfect Spring colours on a rainy day in February? The combination of this yarn and the fading tulips was just too good not to take pictures of.

But, let’s look at the yarn. It’s a new-to-me brand called MoYa yarn, made of 100% organic cotton. The label says: MoYa yarns are hand dyed, made in South Africa, it’s a two ply DK weight to be knitted or crocheted on needle size 3-4 mm and a ball of 50 grams gives you 130 meters. All together this sounds very promising to me, naturally it excited me when Michelle asked me to take a sample and give it a go.

The colours are slightly out of my comfort zone, as you may know when you’re a frequent reader of my blog purple is usually not in my selection. However, because it is hand dyed it has a shade of pink in it too which I like. And together with the pale yellow it makes for a perfect Easter themed palette doesn’t it? Also, variegated colours are often not my pick, I’ve said this before as well, I think it has to do with my desire to control where the colours go, combined with a need for calm looking results. So yes, out of my comfort zone. But definitely worth a try and may be these are actually your favourite colours!

I am thinking to hook up a Spring crochet project; some doilies for the Easter table and see how this promising yarn behaves on my hook. Can’t wait! Have you worked with MoYa yarn before? Knit or crochet? Please tell me about your experience, I am very curious. In the Netherlands, MoYa yarns will be available soon at the beautiful yarn shop Trollenwol in Driebergen. I will keep you updated on the project and yarn test.
