The Sweet Almond Nail Varnish Remover from The Body Shop claims to be non-drying. They sold me right then. But, this polish remover comes with other claim that I found to be enticing
A nail polish remover that improves nail condition and softens cuticles!? I had to see it to believe it. So I ordered a bottle and as it turns out I am now a believer.
Under the jump you will find my full review of this polish plus an ingredients list.
As far as I know this product is currently available only at The Body Shop but hopefully it’ll show up in Ulta soon!
The second thing I noticed was the packaging. The bottle is fairly basic and quite small (100mL / 3.3 oz). There is no pump which was a bit disappointing.
I used this like I would any other remover (you can check out my nail polish removal method here). My nail polish came off so easily I could hardly believe it. And when all the nail polish was gone my nails and cuticles felt moisturized. The scent that was left behind was a very muted version of the scent I smelled in the bottle. The experience was wonderful.
I continued to use this on various polish colors and finishes. The pleasant experience continued. Even with glitter polish. I also found I didn’t need to use near as much of the Sweet Almond Oil Remover as regular polish remover as it didn’t evaporate as fast.
Overall I absolutely love this product. It made an obvious improvement in my nails almost immediately. I can’t say enough good things.
But, as with everything, there are some negatives. The biggest being the price. The Sweet Almond Oil Nail Varnish Remover only comes in one size (100mL) and retails for $10. That’s expensive for nail polish remover. My regular, acetone remover comes in a bottle almost twice that size and costs around $1.50. But, it’s not fair to compare a non-acetone remover to that. So, for reference, the non-acetone remover I was using previously is also $10 but is 118mL.
The only other negative is the packaging. I wish there was a bump or the bottle was a bit nicer for the price.
This will never be my everyday polish remover (I’d go broke!) but I will continue to use it as a treat every once in a while.
