…DON’T DO IT YOURSELF!

Zach and I live in what I like to think is a cute little townhouse. We bought it when they were still being built so we were able to customize it just to our liking. We have made a lot of changes to it like the paint and a few other things. We have lived there for 2 and a half years and I am ready for a bigger change. The biggest change I wish I could do was either the carpet in our front room to hard wood or to paint all of our walls and baseboards white. We have shutters that are painted cream so painting isn’t an option. Which means that new hardwood floors are in my mind.

Zach is pretty handy. He is the one who painted all the walls, built anything I showed him a picture of (including our upholstered bed). However, flooring is something that I don’t think that he could do. Some things are just better to hire out and have done right to last a long time! Don’t you agree?

A funny little story for you, sometimes just don’t do it yourself. Take it from me. Bless Zach’s heart. I asked him to make me this beautiful entry way table. It had pretty curved legs to it. Zach spent hours and hours trying to get these curves right on this table. I mean weeks, months, a year! They to say it nicely were terrible. He couldn’t get the right tools to make the curves and he spent hours and hours sanding down the legs to make them smooth and have the right curve to them. I should have just purchased the $150 little table. It would have made our lives so much easier for such a small price. It would have just been easier to not do it ourselves. You can watch some funny Don’t Do It Yourself videos to see how other people have learned the hard way it’s just easier to hire out!

I want to re-do our living room. The carpet in there has not held up well and I am ready for a change! We weighed our options of where to go and who to have do it. We didn’t have many options to choose from, but I decided to go a little farther away and go to Carpet One. I headed in to look at my options and see about how much money I needed to be saving. I was impressed to be greeted by the door by a friendly sales associate. She lead me over to the hardwood floor section and reviewed all of my options with me. She really took time to walk through every option and weigh the pros and cons for me in my house. She asked me my circumstances of home life and I let her know I have a little baby boy who is 3 months old. She talked to me about which options would be best for use and for a baby to crawl/walk on. They had a huge variety of exclusive brands that I could go through. The sweet girl who helped me was the greatest. She was chatting to me and I asked about herself and I was very impressed to know that she is an expert in not only installation, but design as well. What more could you ask for when looking for someone to help you make big decisions like flooring!

There were so many wood choices and I was so impressed with their display and how easy it was to compare the different colors of wood and to look through them. My favorite is the darker hardwood. I want to make my front room more modern and clean and I think that the dark hardwood would be stunning!

They came to my home where I showed them my front room and asked them their opinions on what my best options were. They measured, were very professional, and informative. What else could you ask for?

I will be saving up for a little bit, but I can’t wait for some new flooring goodness in my home.
